Stress reduction, self-renewal, relaxation and overall balance are potential benefits of any yoga practice. A disciplined approach to the study and practice of yoga, which includes regular attendance of classes, greatly increases the likelihood that you will achieve these benefits.

Lisa has trained primarily in the Iyengar method of Hatha Yoga. She has studied with Barbara Ulmer for the past 25 years. Barbara’s root teacher, Manuso Manos, has also become Lisa’s senior Iyengar teacher. Manuso is one of B.K.S. Iyengar’s longest-term senior teachers.

Her other Iyengar influences include Mary Dunn, Roger Cole and Judith Lassater among others. Though her work with these teachers has been limited, she incorporates profound teachings from each of them in her practice.

Lisa’s teaching is grounded in an ability to combine correct anatomical information with techniques that nurture the development of the student’s inner awareness. Each of her classes includes specific guidance designed to explain the posture from a physical basis. Students are then encouraged to evolve toward the understanding that each posture can also be experienced from a mental, sensory and/or imagistic perspective.

Lisa teaches yoga as a body-mind discipline emphasizing that yoga is not only about the way the posture looks externally. Lisa’s teaching invites the knowledge of how yoga can also affect our actions and our lives. Her classes are an immersion in the process of self-discovery utilizing and developing clarity, intelligence, flexibility and resilience as resources for personal development.
